Athlete Support Personnel and Other Group’s Rights and Responsibilities under the World Anti-Doping Code 2021

Rights:

  1. Athlete Support Personnel and Other Groups have the right to receive education and training on anti-doping rules and regulations.

  2. They have the right to a fair hearing and to due process if they are accused of a doping violation.

  3. They have the right to legal representation and to appeal decisions made against them.

  4. They have the right to provide testimony and evidence during anti-doping proceedings.

Responsibilities

ASP and other groups have the responsibility to uphold and promote the principles of clean sport and to comply with anti-doping rules and regulations.

  1. Athlete Support Personnel and Other Groups have the right to receive education and training on anti-doping rules and regulations.

  2. They have the right to a fair hearing and to due process if they are accused of a doping violation.

ASP and other groups also have specific responsibilities depending on their roles in sports. For example, coaches have the responsibility to provide guidance and support to their athletes in a way that promotes clean sport and compliance with anti-doping rules. Medical personnel have the responsibility to ensure that any medications or treatments provided to athletes are in compliance with anti-doping rules and do not contain prohibited substances. Officials and administrators have the responsibility to ensure that competitions and events are conducted in a fair and clean manner.
